Week 3: Recap and Standings

Week 3 Recap:

Folks, let me tell you, week three of our incredible bowling league has been nothing short of tremendous. This season, I've been saying it from the beginning—it's the best season we've ever had. And week three just proved me right once again.

We've got teams winning their first games ever—two teams, folks! That's what I call progress. These teams have been working hard, they've been training, they've been focused, and now they're tasting victory for the first time. It's a beautiful thing to see, folks, believe me.

But hey, in sports, there's always another side to the coin. We've also had a team that experienced their first loss this season. Now, I know they'll bounce back stronger than ever. That's the spirit of competition that makes our league so great. You win some, you lose some, but you never give up.

And let's talk about something really interesting—brooms. Yes, you heard me right, brooms. Thanks to the incredible efforts of the X-Men, broom sales are going through the roof. Gotta love those mutants, folks. They're promoting these brooms like nobody's business, and let me tell you, it's paying off big time. Who knew brooms and bowling could go hand in hand so well? It's innovative, it's smart, and it's making our league even more exciting.

Every year, folks, our league gets better and better. The competition gets fiercer, the games get more intense, and we're seeing more and more people getting involved. That's what we're all about—growth, improvement, and success.

So as we look forward to the rest of the season, let's keep knocking down those pins, and let's keep those brooms flying off the shelves. Together, we're making bowling great again, and we're doing it better than ever before!

X-men vs. Puzzle Fighters (7 - 0)

The X-men are only dealing in absolutes this year, get swept or be swept. After Isaac and his X-men found themselves on the wrong side of the broom stick in week 1, they have now swept the following 2 teams. After seasons of throwing countless amounts of cash at Tim in the pro shop, and numerous balls in his garage, Professor Isaac may have finally found the one. After just 2 weeks with his new DV8 H8ter, Isaac finished as the #1 bowler of the week and led the X-men in the sweep against the struggling Puzzle Fighters who remain winless on the season.

Shy Guys vs. GTA; SA (2 - 5)

With their bright future getting bleaker by the week, standout rookie Anny decided to high-tail out of town for some much needed R&R after carrying such a heavy load for the first two weeks. Anny oddly chose to take a trip down the cellar this week, as the #5 worst bowler of the week For such a shy guy, Anny coincidentally ran into familiar faces while in the cellar, fellow teammate Van Nguyen, #3 worst bowler of the week, as well as opposing captain, Darren Le #1 worst bowler of the week! Despite the opposing captain being the worst bowler this week, there was little the Shy Guys could do to win this match up with two of their own in the cellar. GTA struggled early on, and with a poor showing from the whole team, GTA lost the first game. However, Jimmy Tran, who has been quietly putting together a great season and was able to figure out the lanes in week 3 and lead the team to their first win of the season, as well as a #4 finish.

PSA: Christina Lam sustained an injury in week 2 and was unable to recover in time for week 3. Rules regarding injuries have been updated. More news to follow.

Alliance vs. BallisLife (2 - 5)

Both teams were heading into this week's matchup looking for redemption after being swept in last week’s Broom-a-palooza festival. BallisLife came into this game as the only scoreless team on the season. Despite new jerseys and fresh cuts, Week 3 looked to be no different after Alliance dominated game 1 of this match, beating BallisLife by 175 pins, the largest pin difference in a single game so far. However, BallisLife finally began to show signs of, life, in game 2, after Captain JayT, JQP and Duck were finally able to display some teamwork and threw for 200 pins raw, each. BallisLife scored 964 pins in game 2, the highest pin count in a single game so far in season 8.

Dan Lam had an unbelievable 714 series, which landed him as #2 bowler of the week, however it did little to offset a rare poor performance from veteran Ado.  Not a bad game for team Alliance, however, they were unable to keep up with the new look BallisLife after they figured out how to play as a team.

P.C. ONIX vs. RedSuns (2 - 5)

Both ONIX and RedSuns were undefeated leading into week 3, however, it was the RedSuns who found themselves racing away from the competition yet again with another convincing victory. ONIX struggled from the very beginning and put out their worst game to date in game 1. By game 2, ONIX figured something out and was able to put up a fight against the blistering RedSuns. Despite their best efforts, ONIX could not keep up as the RedSuns put out their best game this season in game 2. With their fate already sealed, captain Tony Le decided to put on his captain trousers, blew the dust off his infinity gauntlet, and put on a show. With the captain in his best form, and the team by his side, ONIX was able to squeak out 1 game in this matchup.

With 3 players in the bottom 10 this week, ONIX stumbled out of the gate in week 3 and was never able to catch up to the RedSuns who continue to overtake the league this season.

Starcraft vs. Shadow (5 - 2)

Move over Hot Wheels (RedSuns)! There’s a new dynamic duo in town and there’s not enough room on Andy’s bed for other toys! Cat Nguyen and Carson Chan, both finished as tied for top 5 bowler of the week and led team Starcraft to another victory.

Shadow was able to keep the match up close against the red hot Starcraft team and were 1-1 heading into game 3. Living monument Carson Chan continues on his warpath through season 8, but, in game 3, captain Andy decides to jump into the fray with a commanding 193 pin performance. With Andy now in this fight, Starcraft finished game 3 with 984 pins, overtaking the short-lived, season 8 highest single game score from BallisLife.  Starcraft has managed to have standout performances from all members of the team, which is likely the reason they remain undefeated so far.

Shadow once again did not have a poor showing, but unfortunately had a brutal match up. Shadow has the #2 highest scoring offense in the league, but dead last in defense with the highest pins against. Both losses were against the highest scoring teams of their respective weeks. Chin up tiger, you’ll get em next time.
