Week 1: Recap and Standings

Week Two Matchups:

The X-men vs. Alliance (-2)

On paper, this is the closest matchup of the week, essentially a heads-up match with the X-men just receiving a 2 pin handicap. However, the X-men will be trying to rebound off of an uncharacteristically poor performance, while Alliance will likely still be riding in on the vibe tsunami from last week. In the past, the X-men have always had a high ceiling who are capable of taking on any team on any given Wednesday. But the team has also shown that they can have a low floor. Hopefully game 1 will be rock bottom for them. If Alliance can maintain the momentum from last week, they’ll likely take the game, but nothing is guaranteed when facing the X-men. This one can go in any team's favor.

Shy Guys vs. ONIX (-131)

The fortress of pins that the ShyGuys call home, inexplicably grows headings into week 2. The ShyGuys now receive 131 pins against ONIX. ShyGuys were able to sweep the X-Men in last week’s bout. People who were unable to see beyond the pile of handicap piles likely did not notice that in game 3, the ShyGuys said “fuck these pins” and went on the offensive. The ShyGuys nearly took game 3 without their handicap. A scary matchup for ONIX who will have to be on top of their game if they want to succeed in tonight’s matchup. The only matchup of the week where 2 winners from last week face off, only 1 will walk away undefeated tonight.

Puzzle Fighters vs. Starcraft (-11)

Four talented rookies who are eager to make their mark in the league will be showcased in this battle. Coming off a huge 7-0 win in the wake of the colossal Carson Chan, Starcraft will be taking on the Puzzle Fighters in week 2. The closest matchup in week 2, with starcraft giving up 11 pins. Hopefully the Puzzle Fighters will have Dillon Nguyen playing without a penalty this week as both teams will need all the pins they can get to come out on top.

GTA:SA vs. RedSuns (+35)

In week 1, both GTA and RedSuns were a part of matches that came down to the wire. However, one team, the RedSuns came out the victor, while GTA narrowly lost their match. Both teams are composed of some of the most skilled and competitive bowlers in the league. Close sources have seen both teams at practice and appear to be laser focused. I anticipate this battle to be a fierce one.

BallisLife vs. Shadow (+41)

Although both teams are heading into week 2 without a win, I wouldn’t count either team out yet. The Ballislife roster is too talented to be hanging out with the ShyGuys in the cellar. JayT is easily one of the most skilled bowlers in BSL and will bounce back quickly. Shadow on the other hand had the 2nd highest pin total in week 1 and was able to go toe-to-toe with the formidable RedSuns last week. However Shadow was not able to keep up after the RedSuns hit the NOS. I expect Ballislife to rebound from last week’s outing, but will it be enough to take down the Queen Bee and his Shadow?
