TBan's Power Rankings | Week 5

TBan's Power Rankings | Week 5

1. RedSuns

Another week, another calculated win for the top team. This team does not prioritized personal accomplishments or milestones. They are making it clear that they are here to win the championship and have been executing their plans flawlessly. While sweeping isn’t in their DNA, they are constantly honed in on making adjustments and walking away with a W. The league will be watching the next 2 weeks for this team as they look to be the first undefeated BSL team in history. Even though the RedSuns are currently 5-0, this doesn't mean they can let off the gas yet. As of now, they will likely clinch playoffs but not but not quite the 1st seed. But then again I still feel like all this is secondary to them, they really don’t care who is going to be on the other end. They are prepared to show up and prove why they are the #1 team.

2. Shy Guys

Boy was I wrong about this team. I mean, even Tiff questioned me..”Who tf is this guy writing the power ranking.” So first, Ima apologize that I overlooked this team. It was such an unorthodox start to the season and with the 5th man making such an impact, I failed to acknowledge the advantage it provides. Thinh has been the underrated bowler on this team and looks to be very capable as the teams anchor. Van will act as the consistent reliable bowler who is inconsistently reliable — while Anny, Tiff, and the 5th man provide the upside to win. I think it’s time to give the respect this team deserves and Van is in for the free ride. LOLLL

3. StarCraft

Back-to-back week losses for StarCraft, but I wouldn't be too worried about them. StarCraft likely already has the playoffs secured and are hoping to snatch the 2nd seed for bye-week. This is crucial, any week in the playoffs you can get a break from is a huge advantage. This is a very well-rounded team that will find their stroke and perhaps this is a reminder that you don’t need to be perfect you just need to execute when it matters. I have them at 3 not because of the losses but more relating to the coming 2 matches. Hopefully they don’t beat themselves up too much and see these coming week as prep week for the playoffs. There are two strong rookies on this team that just need to get acclimated to the playoff culture. Stay positive! Nothing in the past matters. At this point in the season, I think we all know who TF is Carson, but the question now is, where TF is Carson?

4. X-Men

A huge bounce back once again for X-Men. They really know how to put the past behind them and keep things pushing. With 2 players finishing in the top 5 this week, X-Men continue to claw their way on the standing. Teams like the X-Men makes no playoff match safe and they are one of the biggest reasons why securing a bye week is so crucial. There are 2 teams I’d hate to face as a lower seed and X-Men is definitely one of them. As they prepare for playoffs, will they be having some new merch for the post season? A team that knows how to bring the vibes and even their own groupies. The X-Men are coming in with the right momentum when it matters most — great job Isaac and team!

5. Onix

Onix, another power house to look out for! I know this team has nothing to worry about, they seem poised and prepared to come in as the other strong bottom seed you don’t want to face. Le is having a modest year and probably finding other ways to enjoy BSL after a championship year. Tony is having his best season after years of having his previous teams suffer. Huan has improved progressively year over year and is looking to finish top 10 raw. No one really sticks out and no one really needs to. Keep milking those thumbs Will — that is the way!!

6. GTA:SA

This leaves one last spot for the playoffs and I’m going to put my money on GTA: SA. GTA got a big boost of moral with the return of Vinh and one of the softer remaining schedules when compared to the other teams in the running. Vinh returned with a bang and bowled himself to a top 5 finish. This isn’t normal for BSL to have a sub mid season, but under unfortunate circumstances of a season ending injury from team member Christina, we found this as the best way to move forward. This is all happening at a crucial time and I hope GTA is able to capitalize on this.

7. Alliance

Alliance has tough remaining schedule so it may be easy to feel hopeless, but this can prove to be their ultimate test to see if they can pull it together. There isn’t a lack of leadership here, we all know how positive and supportive Tony is. I think the key here is if these individual talent can show up. In terms of potential I’m going to put the weight on Ado here, he has the highest ceiling and if the other members can just do slightly above their avg they may be able to disappoint some teams in these 2 weeks to come. I’m sure they know how important the next 14 potential points matter.

8. Shadow

Shadow showed that they really only had one purpose this season, and that was to lift the curse of Tho. He went off to the islands to celebrate and came back just to sit in the dark, dank cellar. There seems to be a lack of leadership on this team and I’m going to put that on B. He is way too seasoned to not hold his team together by keeping a positive vibe. The season is clearly not over for them and still have a good chance to make the playoffs but I’m not sure if they care enough to. Didn’t I say moneyline Shadow rest of season?? Wrong again….

9. BallisLife

For this team, the road to playoffs looks bleaker each week. Personally, I don’t see it happening either. This was a rough season for Jayt, the highly anticipated player that bowled 300 in the off-season. Last week, he went 50% off again with a sub 150 avg. The remaining schedule is going to be tough, so they're going to need to be at peak performance to stay in the running. I’m going to stay firm and say they won’t make it, but I am all for a huge surprise.

10. Puzzle Fighters

Puzzle Fighters managed to get 1 win from RedSuns but that won’t be anywhere close to what they need. With no wins within grasp for the season, Sang went to the islands just to catch a break. It was a rough season for the Puzzle Fighters as nothing was going their way. However, that doesn’t mean they can't be the villian and crush some playoff dreams from those still in contention!
