TBan's Power Rankings | Week 3

TBan's Power Rankings | Week 3

1. RedSuns

Another tough week to decide who earns this #1 spot. I had to do some digging to really find any key differential. Assuming that StarCraft played RedSuns, RedSuns would’ve won 2-1 but in game 3 StarCraft had literally the highest handicap score any team did so far this season at 984 total pins. In respects to player avg and ability to perform within their mean — Red Sun prove to be the more consistent team. Stephen has really shown his skills at a high level and is the front runner for rookie of the year in my book if he keeps this up. Andrew, who I believe is still the key player of this team finished 37th this week but is 10th on the handicap ladder. He is also 38th in total raw pins but 4th in total pins handicap. I’m not the only one who is tracking this am I???

2. StarCraft

What a strong, confident, humble team. I have to give credit to captain Andy. He takes accountability as the leader and understands the team’s area of weakness. In game 3 Andy really showed that he’s more than just a leader off the lanes, but also on the lanes with a 193 game, making them the highest team handicap score this league saw all season. I also think they had a legitimate test this week against Shadow, even though it wasn’t a sweep it was still a 2-1 victory. With all members performing at avg or above — what more can you ask for?? Another Carson? Or Idk maybe a hot dog for Andy??? Every week they come out ready to compete with the right attitude. I love to see it! You can’t NOT like this team even if you wanted to.

3. X-Men

Are you surprise to see this name sitting at #3?? To be honest if I didn’t have them here I’d probably run into some trouble in the parking lot with these boyz. Rightfully so, they definitely earned this spot with one of the quickest bounce back performances I’ve seen in BSL history. As captain, Isaac really took matters into his own hands by being the #1 bowler of the week! These things matter, you want to lead by example — it really uplifts the team as a whole and I’m sure X-men felt it. Still a team that is all-or-nothing and fortunately they been ALL for the last 2 weeks! There are a couple of guys on here that haven't been at their full potential yet. So if you think their run will need to end eventually, I don’t expect it to be anytime soon. Still a lot of upward trajectory from here.

4. Onix

Another hard fought battle for this team. Determined to not get swept, Onix held on to manage a 2-1 loss against the strongest team in the league. With 3 out of 4 members finishing between 31-35 on the handicap ladder — this was one of their below avg performance. Not allowing this loss to hinder their confidence, Onix continues to fight for the respect they deserve. This is a team with a whole different vibe of their own, I mean have you seen their handshake?? One thing worth noting is Tony variance is in a much more manageable zone, he is avg 164 on the season thru 9 games. After-all he is the captain so leading by example is a must.

5. Shadow

Here we are heading into week 4 and the curse is…. Still cursing!! We are just about the halfway mark and this team is determined to free Tho from this wretched curse. 3 out of 4 members are shooting above their book avg. Hieu is the only one below avg by 4 pins. I previously mentioned that this is a team with a championship DNA — the way they obtain their pins are well within the mean of their avg. Brian Le is 12 pins over his avg, while Tho and Tango are less than 9 pins above their avg. This is a team that does not shoot many outlier games. The main problem for this team has been their tough schedule. This is why I wouldn’t put the blame on Team Shadow. Their schedule will lighten up and if they continue to stay this consistent then the wins/points will just become part of the equation. Keep team spirit high and continue to do what you’re doing! My prediction — THE CURSE IS LIFTED THIS WEEK!

6. BallisLife

Boy oh boy, I’ve been waiting for this to happen and it finally did. They’ve probably hated my power rankings for the last 2 weeks and now they finally got to release some steam! This is a team with 1 strategy and 1 strategy only — Three 200avg bowlers! They finally showed out together! With handicap, this is a high bar for any team, but if there was one team to do it, it would be BallisLife. They are the strongest trio amongst all the teams. The difficult part is making sure they smoke that pregame joint! I had a chance to catch up with Jayt and he was telling me it’s not about his girlfriend — she’s there every week, every game, giving in- game kisses! He just chose the wrong ball, which leads me to believe they were playing with the wrong ball this whole time! They had a team high in raw pins of 751, that’s insane. BallisLife needed this win to stay relevant, and it came in just in time.

7. GTA:SA

GTA:SA had an absence this previous week and looks like they will need to make some adjustments with their roster. While the team is trying to figure this out veteran Jimmy stays laser focused with a single game current season high of 256 and a Top 4 finish. However Jimmy still needs his dynamic duo Johnny Vegas to perform, he has yet to eclipse a 200 game this whole season. This is not very Vegas-like, rumor has it he’s been spotted at the golf range more than the bowling alley. Captain Darren who has also been struggling and found himself as the top bowler in the cellar. Jimmy can’t carry this alone, we’ll have to see what type of changes they will be making but they are not one to count out. This is a team with high ceiling performers,  they just need to start performing!

8. Alliance

The almighty rise and fall of Alliance. Or is this too soon? Clearly Dan was out to prove a point last week and really showed the league that he does in fact, have that dawg in him! With a 64% close frame rate, Dan found himself as the #2 bowler of the week. All this just to watch his team crumble around him.. Alliance is facing some unexpected turn of events, as Ado found himself in the cellar for the first time this season and Vu still nursing an injury. Tony has good spirit and will continue to do his best every week, if I’m not counting them out then they definitely shouldn’t either. Something tells me this is Ado’s week.

9. Shy Guys

Oh Shy Guys, another week, another 2 players in the cellar. This team continues to be volatile and I can’t think of many things they can do to right this ship. I’m going to be as surprised as you all are if they are able to. My bold prediction here is they will get a few more sweeps along the way, pray that you’re not on the receiving end of that for a playoff stretch. Perhaps they are the villain of the league and just out to ruin another team’s playoff hopes. With a full roster this week, let’s see if the most surprising team can continue to surprise us.. The one least surprising thing from this team is seeing how many times Van is in the cellar. Sorry bro we need more out of you, your team needs more out of you!!!!

10. Puzzle Fighter

The Puzzle Fighters are truly a fan favorite or at least one of my favorites. They are a team of “so close” or “we’re almost there” but unfortunately that won’t be enough. It’s really an uphill battle for this team. The amount of #10 pins Diego left on a pocket shot and splits Dillion had to face was heart breaking. Sang who is also nursing an injury isn’t willing to give up. Thanh who naturally has the dawg in her. All members with the right attitude. I watched them fight hard on the lanes but still end up falling short. The lesson here, nothing matters if you’re not able to go out on Wednesday night and execute your best performance.
