TBan's Power Rankings | Week 4

TBan's Power Rankings | Week 4

1. StarCraft

I think it’s finally time to talk about their biggest asset and why I’m putting them back on top. For back to back weeks now, Cat has found herself in the Top 5. This week, she is joined by different Starcraft team member, Shelby at #3. This team has so much to offer, that you really don’t know who is going to pop off. The minute you try to hone in on a player, someone else on their team goes off. Carson had a quiet week proving he’s also human, while Shelby took over the overall raw pin count. Andy has no more friends and just has his team at #1. I say who cares if it gets lonely at the top, get used to it. They have so many different weapons, I really don’t know what to expect. I just know I couldn’t defy the standings this week. They did not let the criticism hinder their confidence. I previously said you can’t not like this team even if you didn’t want to. B corrected me and said that’s not true, people hate them. It’s okay Andy, they’ll be your friend again, after the season.

2. RedSuns

Another week, another well executed plan. The RedSuns continue to look like the most professional bowling team in the league. Huy and Stephen continues to coach Andrew and Tracy very closely. Even though we have seen Huy and Stephen numbers drop a bit, it has been easily offset by their star prospect Andrew. If you have been following how I been tracking Andrew, you will understand that him being the #1 bowler of the week was not unsurprising, and also well deserved. Andrew has been able to adjust to anything thrown at him. He made the switch from 1-hand to 2-hand bowling at the beginning of the season. This week, his ball was damaged by Tony L... Bowlero, 2 days before the matchup. Andrew used a different ball borrowed from Huy for his game, which he used to get him the #1 spot of the week. Week in and week out this team has made the appropriate adjustments and decisions, which is why they are the only undefeated team remaining. They have relied heavily on their rising star so far, which makes me wonder. Will they continue with this trend, or will  they change it up during playoff time and take matters into their own hands? I can’t see this team being outplayed, what will cost them is making a wrong decision when the stakes are high.

3. Onix

It was a bounce back week for them. They faced an undefeated team the previous week and had to face X-Men, who had swept back to back weeks going into the match. Fortunately they weren’t even close to sweeping Onix and instead barely missed getting swept themselves. It was a strong performance all around for Onix. Strikes and spare were followed by dudes milking each other’s thumbs. Weird.... but keep doing it if it works. I’m applauding for every strike, spare, split pick ups but I am not milking your thumbs. Sorry! Unless...

4. Shadow

There we have it, the curse has finally been lifted!! Now that they've gotten that off of their chest, it’s time for them to focus on bigger things. Shadow started the season off against very tough opponents and for the remaining of the season you may just want to take the moneyline on team Shadow. Their schedule softens up and will likely be pulling in tons of points. Or at least that’s what I would expect. A team getting too complacent this early can be lead in the wrong direction. I would’ve had this team 1 notch higher, but because they failed to sweep their opponent when it should’ve been a given, I had to put them at number 4. This was very disappointing to see for a team that has so much potential, but can't ever seem to deliver the finishing blow. I hope they celebrate this milestone and move on expeditiously, because “the job is not finished.”

5. Shy Guys

Alright, so I was wrong for putting them 9th last week. My decision to rank them so low was a reflection of a poor week, alongside their high prospect Anny who went on vacation. This is a team I’m going to continue to be really wrong or spot on about. They had an absolutely stellar performance and upset the team I had at rank #2 that week, Team StarCraft . Not only did they beat them, they nearly swepted them! Just narrowly missing the mark by 4 pins in game 1. Van is the perfect example of how volatile this team is. He found himself in the top 5 after going back to back weeks in the cellar. At the end of game 3, Van was frantically looking for me, even calling out my name, to make sure this was noted for the power rankings. Well, here are your flowers Van, or did you want to give them to Cat instead because she beat you by 3. Loll don’t hate me debate me.

6. X-Men

Team X-Men had a great 2 week run, but quickly got served a big slice of humble pie. Prior to the match Isaac said he was going to break the BSL sweep record by going 3 weeks in a row. Not long after they had their tails tucked between their legs and had to scramble to steal 1 win to avoid getting swept themselves. They are a strong team without a doubt, but when  the road gets a little bumpy, you can see them almost crumbling without a backbone. Steven is in the cellar and TP missed it by 1. The X-Men will look to bounce back this week in traditional fashion, with a broom!

7. BallisLife

The following 4 teams is what I would call the play-in for the playoffs. In the weeks to come this will change and I expect a few of these team to end up in a higher seed. Starting with BallisLife, they seem to have finally figured it out after 4 weeks. Confidence is high, vibes are there, and the strategy hasn’t changed. No practice, smoke weed, ball TF out! After 2 back to back cellar appearances, Angelique pulled herself out the cellar and was the teams best value bowler. They aren’t built to sweep but they will be clawing at points every week, let’s hope it’s 5-2 because every one of those points will count.

8. GTA:SA

You may have heard the news. With a mid season sub, this changes the dynamic of GTA and who can be more fitting for the sub then a very familiar face — Vinh Diesel. This team looks very intimidating from the outside, but a friendly reminder, BSL is a handicap league. Handicap will be adjusted accordingly and will likely see GTA giving points compared to receiving points in the past. While this can be viewed as positive news and hopefully some life left for a playoff push, GTA still has a lot to do. It is currently Jimmy's world and we are living in it. Back to back weeks Jimmy topped the season high of 257, previously 256. Darren is in his own head and struggles to maintain consistent for 3 games. Johnny is also in his own world, but that world is no longer bowling its golf. Bowling with 3 people can hurt the vibes, hopefully with the sub of Vinh things will start to change in the right direction.

9. Alliance

Another difficult week for Alliance once again. Tony and Dan consistency show that their value has been met. Ado continues to shoot over, but its still not enough to carry. Vu is still nursing an injury and maintaining 3 games has been difficult for him. I do know they are looking over their strategy and hope to make some adjustments, Vu specifically. Hopefully this is going to be in time for them to make a playoff run. They do have the potential to sweep and will need to take advantage of their strength before they just become a dream crushing team.

10. Puzzle Fighter

Shamblessss!! An unfortunate sight to witness. Dillion has given it his all, and it got him left in the cellar as the worst bowler of the week. He will likely be spending a lot of his alone time, thinking about plotting his vengeance. I’m getting Riddler vibes seeing that bottom 5 post. I’m going to set a goal for this team — week 6/7 making some crushing impact to the playoff standings. If you’re going to go down, go down swinging!!
